Envisioning a New Wonderland

Few people get visibly excited while discussing the opening of a parking garage, but the gray concrete structure that rises seven levels above Route 1A in Revere has commanding views of the Atlantic, houses around 1,500 cars, and has been fodder for small talk among subway passengers for the last 18 months. “I like that it’s a covered garage,” said George Doulis, a Lynn accountant who commutes to Boston on weekdays and has watched the facility being constructed. City-Wide Fitness Challenge

REVERE’S FREE CITYWIDE FITNESS CHALLENGE “Revere on the Move” and Millions of Muscles are partnering with fitness organizations across Revere to bring you the first-ever citywide fitness challenge! Starting Memorial Day, this free 6 week challenge is designed to get people up and moving, have fun, and showcase all the different ways to get fit in Revere. Running Monday, May 28th through Sunday, July 8th, there will be activities nearly every day for all ability levels and a variety of interests. “Whether you’re into zumba or bootcamp, strength training or cardio, dancing or taking a walk on the Beach, the Urban Trail or at the Stadium, there will be something for everyone,” said Mayor Daniel Rizzo. Challenge participants will be competing against each other by earning points for participating in official Challenge events and decreases in their body weight and body fat, with winners in each age range. Cupid Splash | Save The Harbor March 24

Last year’s Cupid Splash was originally scheduled to take place in February, but was postponed until April because there was simply too much snow and ice for us to get to the beach.  As it turned out, the rescheduled Cupid Splash turned out to be an amazing success!

Polar Plunge at Revere Beach | March 3rd

Once again, hundreds of people who value the Special Olympics mission of a healthy and vibrant life for individuals with intellectual disabilities will jump into the icy-cold Atlantic Ocean to raise much-need funds for the organization. And while many people will jump in the ocean to support Special Olympics Mass, possibly over 1,000, many more are still needed to help provide necessary funds for the year-round sports and health-related programs. On Saturday March 3, the Polar Plunge www.polarplungema.org to support Special Olympics Massachusetts will celebrate 14 years as a major fundraising initiative for the organization, raising over those 14 years, well over $2 million. Those funds go directly to support the programs and health initiatives of Special Olympics Mass across the state.
