Beautification Committee holds it first 2015 Meeting

First Meeting of 2015 for Beautification Committee Story by Revere Advocate News After a brutal winter, the Revere Beautification Committee (RBC) was able to meet to plan its agenda for the upcoming year. All members agreed that it was wonderful to be able to think of flowers, bushes and making the city clean. It will be a challenging year due to all of the damage that was done by the record-breaking snow Revere experienced these last few months. A few of the items currently on the docket for this year are the beautification of Bell Circle, the planning of the flowers to be installed along Revere Beach and the beginning of the planning for the beautification of Brown Circle. A Rebirth in Revere?

Urban planning students from the Harvard Graduate School of Design presented many varied ideas for the future redevelopment of major properties in Revere. But a few common themes emerged. “Everybody in the community had an intense pride concerning Revere, and then Bell Circle comes up and there was just general agreement that it is a disaster,” said student Tamara Jafar, from Ann Arbor, Mich. Students from the Harvard Graduate School of Design’s Urban Planning Core Studio II joined Revere city officials and community members Thursday night to present the results of an investigation of the redevelopment opportunities for several Revere properties. Revere Citywide Free Fitness Challenge May 11th & 5K Race set for June 13th

News Release by City of Revere Revere – The City of Revere and Mayor Daniel Rizzo are pleased to announce that the “Revere Citywide Free Fitness Challenge” is slated to kick-off on May 11, 2015 and will run for five weeks ending on June 10, 2015. The 5K Race which signifies the end of the challenge is being held on June 13, 2015. The annual Fitness Challenge is designed to highlight the benefits of healthy eating and fitness. It also demonstrates how important health and exercise is, while showing residents that it can also be fun and exciting. All classes for the Fitness Challenge will be offered during the week at either the Susan B. Anthony School gymnasium, or at a various participating business. Easter time always a special time at Revere Beach

Easter time at Revere Beach was always a very special time of the year for so many of us…. This year especially would be a very special time at Revere Beach in its heyday because of the historic cold and snowfall we’ve all grown so tired of. In fact although it is springtime according to the calendar, a cold air mass and more snow is being predicted within the next few days. In the old days many of couldn’t wait for good weather and Easter time so that we could get down to Revere Beach to enjoy the rides and all the amusements. Our parents couldn’t wait either as it was way to get the kids out of the house too! Revere Beach Hotel Deal Coming Together

Story by Seth Daniel -Revere Journal   Hotel  Deal Coming Together for Revere Beach Developers for Waterfront Square are preparing to begin the process of bringing a hotel to Revere Beach – specifically on the parcel of land on the beach side of Wonderland Station. Joe DiGangi, of EuroVest, announced late last week that the project is preparing to welcome the addition of a Marriott hotel to the beachfront. “We are in the process of finalizing the documents,” he said. “To date, Marriott has approved the site, and they have brought on board one of their preferred hotel developers/operators.” Mayor Dan Rizzo said it was a another bit of good news and added it to a list of recent accomplishments. He said he was glad to see that project picking up in the commercial development side.

State of the City Address by Mayor Rizzo

Story by Revere Advocate News     Mayor Dan Rizzo has often said that Revere is a “city on the rise,” and at his State of the City address Monday before a packed council chamber, he offered a roadmap in an attempt to show the city just how far. “For some time now, we’ve talked about Revere being a city on the rise,” Rizzo said. ”If you look out across the city today, you will see that Revere is literally a city on the rise, both in steel and concrete. Vanguard at Waterfront Square, Market Basket, Harley-Davidson, Harry Della Russo Stadium, 565 Beach St., TA Associates, For Kids Only, 39 units of senior housing at the former site of Reardon’s Restaurant, and the new Sgt. James J. Hill School represent over $150 million in public and private investment across our community.”
