Governor Baker, Lt. Governor Polito to Join Mayor Arrigo and City Officials at 2017 Columbus Day Parade

Release by City of Revere October 2, 2017 The City of Revere is proud to announce that Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will participate in the 2017 Columbus Day Parade in Revere.  Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito will join Mayor Brian Arrigo, the parade’s Grand Marshall, and other Revere city officials in marching along the route. The parade begins on Monday, October 9 at 1:00 pm at the Revere/Chelsea line on Broadway. “We are honored to welcome the Governor and the Lt. Governor to Revere for this beloved community event,” said Mayor Brian Arrigo. “We look forward to a fun, festive day that celebrates our city’s pride.” Rotating annually between Revere and East Boston, the Columbus Day Parade honors the region’s Italian-American cultural heritage. International Sand Sculpting Festival set for 22-24 July at Revere Beach

The Revere Beach Partnership will once again bring Sand Sculptors from all over the world to Revere Beach; hundreds of thousands of visitors will flock to the beach.    The Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival has grown into one of the largest sand sculpting festivals in the country. Each year sculptors from all over the world come to compete for one of the largest grand prizes in the world. Sculptors work for four days creating masterpieces on the beach with nothing but sand and water. Every year the event features a People’s Choice competition where you get to vote for your favorite. Shop Small “Small Business Saturday” November 29th

Shop Small on Saturday Mayor Rizzo is once again partnering with the Revere Chamber of Commerce to promote “Small Business Saturday” on November 29. Small Business Saturday was founded in 2010 by American Express to help local businesses gain more customers and now, that program has turned into a powerful movement that drives shoppers to local merchants across the country. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar small businesses. The day will start with a Community Kickoff Coffee Hour at Kinship Floral, LLC between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Businesses and consumers will be invited to meet neighborhood business owners and preview their special offers at the Chamber’s pop-up market. “Small Business Passports” will also be available to consumers at all participating businesses.

Metro North Plan Could Compliment Revere’s Development

Full Story appears at Revere Journal   Mayor Dan Rizzo and Economic Development Director John Festa have scheduled the city’s second economic summit for Nov. 21 and one of the issues surely that will be discussed is state Housing and Economic Development Secretary’s Greg Bialecki’s land use plan for the newly named “Metro North” region that includes Revere and eight other communities, Chelsea, Everett, Charlestown, Winthrop, East Boston, Malden, Melrose, and Somerville. To Mayor Rizzo’s credit, he has always been receptive to collaborative and regional approaches to issues affecting Revere. He was an engaged participant in Bialecki’s conference that was held at the Wyndham Hotel in Chelsea and he is certainly weighing the plan’s potential impact on Revere’s ongoing and future plans for development.
